I know this is day two, and I don't want to be that person but could someone kindly get... what is unquestionably the most disgusting backpack in history... out of my room?

I havent figured out who it belongs to and I haven't opened it because it smells like rotting lunch.

Meanwhile, my bags appear to still be at large.

You’re telling me ... that if you find something and the owner doesn’t find it back in three days, you can do whatever you want with it?

If they can prove it's theirs there might be some trouble but otherwise.

Ugh. ‘Some trouble’ is just solisiter talk for ‘your rights are fake.’

Your rights are very real, but so are other people's and sometimes they cross because we have a broken legal system, and it's good that there are solicitors to navigate that.

Fortunately in this (hypothetical?) scenario, it'd be the other party's burden of proof to show it was theirs at all in the first place which is pretty difficult unless your name's on everything.

This situation is currently hypothetical but just so I know, are you certified in 'finder's keepers' law?
