Maya's not here for a Meat Cute, but she is here to meddle and she has a little table to herself set up for card readings. The chair and table are both draped in fine cloth so she doesn't have to touch anything sticky.
She's here to answer all those burning questions about love, life, personal problems, deep insecurities, dark secrets... Using her Seer abilities, of course!

Despite her best efforts, Dominique Weasley is in attendance at Meat Sweats this evening.
Even if Victoire got her into this building, however, puppy dog eyes and glittery words of encouragement weren't enough to force participation in all this Chaos. So here we are instead: perched at the bar with a slice of chocolate cake and a crossword. To Dom, this is perfectly reasonable middle ground. She's even got a pink sweater on to match the ?theme, which Robert keeps peeping curiously out the sleeve of.
Dominique certainly isn't alone in the camp of 'made it through the door, but have no intention of making their way into the fray.' This distance is almost too close to the whole thing as it is.
Julian lifts his head from where he's hunched over a neighboring table, looking like someone contemplating a particularly complicated equation, and glances in her direction. "A question," he says, and it's quiet enough - polite enough, too - that it almost certainly doesn't need to be answered if she isn't inclined. "What do you think is the most casual arrangement of dots?"
Dom looks up at Julian, ponders for a moment, then speaks with soft certainty. "In a line. It's expected. Sort of artless. But no one's going to think about it very hard."
Then the nervous itch of talking aloud to a semi-stranger catches up to her -- she can't quite remember this person's name, though his face is familiar -- and she swallows, self-conscious.
"I mean. That's- That's how it's casual. To me. Since it's easy."
There's something about the certainty of her voice that has him nodding along. She's good at it, up until she isn't - not that it's too noticeable when she isn't. Or that the part where she isn't is in any way to blame for how his marker hovers, then pulls back, caught up in his fist as he taps the butt of it to his chin. "Not too obvious?"
Julian's head tilts, looking at his display with his mouth twitched up into a frown. "You may be right. She would think I'd want to be done as soon as possible."
A more polite person would make any of these statements more decipherable to company.
Dom blinks several times. Down on her upturned wrist, Robert sticks his little face out. He too is blinking.
"Um," she says.
She turns away, then back again, then down. "Er," she attempts, seizing on the crossword as a means of human response. "Do you know of a seven letter word for a tree of the laurel family? It starts with an A."
Julian tips his head again, the other way and then back, before he nods decisively. "Fair enough." He jabs the marker in a straight line down the left side of the paper and drops it. "She's going to call me out on it anyway."
Then he glances upward and quite visibly realizes that he's being weird. Or at least he blinks a bunch himself and scrubs a hand over his mouth in a way that doesn't scream cool, collected, or particularly confident.
He lifts a hand, ticks the letters off on his fingers . "A-c-a-c-i-a. That's six. So. No. Um. You have any letters?"
Here's the thing: Actually rushing around, actively asking and answering personal questions is an activity Julian Montague would really rather not participate in. Personally. At least not without some sort of threat of personal harm. No offense to the organizers. But pretending to socialize has become something of a regular weekend activity for him. He hasn't been able to fool Ethel yet, but hope springs eternal.
So he's got his table outfitted. There's an unmarred Bingo card and an obnoxiously pink drink all catty-cornered to one another. It's a decently casual arrangement. His phone lies, abandoned, next to his elbow while he wonders if jabbing a Bingo marker into a few squares will push this deceit over the edge.
AROUND MEAT SWEATS: Marion has a question for the class
It's the middle of a round and Marion climbs up to stand on her chair. "OI!" She shouts, waving her bingo card in the air for extra attention. "Anyone in this building not single? Anyone in a, fuck, like–" more waving "–committed whatever?"
Across the restaurant one half of confused elderly couple hesitantly raised his hand.
"Not you."
AROUND MEAT SWEATS: Marion has a question for the class
Lysander didn't slip into the party until it was in full swing, so he could see what went on, but also nobody would expect him to do things like eat pepperoni hearts or play dating Bingo. He'd said he would just work tonight, and he's doing a little work technically. It's a fake piece of proposed legislation. Looking around at the sad array of hearts, and all of his friends and family flirting at each other for invisible points with a probably fake prize, there's really only one area he can think of exploring, and writes SHOULD HUMANS HAVE RIGHTS? at the top of his page.
